Mini KlezFest w/Golem, Rogovoy, Aug 22
On Sunday, August 22, at 3p.m. and 8 p.m., the Guthrie
Center in Great Barrington, Mass., will host a mini
Klezmer Festival featuring Yiddish/klezmer group Golem and
klezmer expert Seth Rogovoy. The New York-based Golem -- a
sextet led by singer/folklorist Annette Ezekiel, featuring
fiddler Alicia Jo Rabins -- performs Old World Yiddish
folk and instrumental music, with Balkan, Slavic and Gypsy
influences mixed in. Music critic and WAMC Northeast
Public Radio commentator Seth Rogovoy -- the author of the
best-selling guidebook "The Essential Klezmer: A Music
Lover's Guide to Jewish Roots and Soul Music" will
present "Rockin' the Shtetl," his exciting, multi-media
show tracing klezmer's journey from Old World shtetls to
New World nightclubs and concert stages. Tickets are $18;
