The Rebbe's Orkestra is an exciting group of musicians who play Jewish music with an international flair. Incorporating the sounds and rhythms of Jewish music from many parts of the world, this 4-piece band brings a unique style to the playing of Klezmer, Eastern European, Israeli, Middle-Eastern and Sephardic (Judeo-Spanish) music. The group has been performing in the southwest area for concerts, festivals, dance events, and weddings/bar mitzvahs since 1992.
The Rebbe's Orkestra:
Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb - Nationally acclaimed story-telling, percussion (doumbek, riq, snare drum/high hat/jam blocks-and more), and vocals.
Barbara Friedman - Electric bass, Macedonian tambura, and vocals.
Randy Edmunds – Guitar, Macedonian tambura, and vocals.
Beth Cohen – violin, mandolin, bowed psaltery, penny whistle, and vocals.
"Spanning styles from klezmer to Israeli and Middle Eastern to Sephardic, The Rebbe's Orkestra perform a lively set, infused with a respect for tradition as well as a playful sense of humor and joyousness that erases many of the stigmas attached to 'world music'." Michael Henningson, Music Editor, Weekly Alibi
"...The group [Rebbe's Orkestra] went on to play Middle-Eastern music, including an Iraqi melody. For an instant I believed peace was possible." Demetria Martinez, for National Catholic Reporter
"Thank you for helping to make our wedding a truly festive and special celebration!"
"...I just want to thank you for the incredible music of the Rebbe's Orkestra...it added to a delightful day. A delightful day!... Another member of my Klezmer/Celtic group also enjoyed your group and the Rabbi's antics so much." Gary Libman, Placitas, NM
"Thank you so much for the lively mood and simcha you brought our wedding. We all had a great time dancing. A special thanks to Rabbi Lynn for leading the dance, to Randy for the extra help with the PA, and to Beth for coordinating everything and working with us to make sure we could have such a magical evening with you all."
