SANTA BARBARA The University of California Santa
Barbara MultiCultural Center presents Music of the
Jewish World: Jewish Musical Traditions of Turkey,
Greece, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe Saturday,
November 19 at 8 p.m. in the MultiCultural Center
Theater.
Enjoy an evening of riveting and dramatic music from
the Jewish world, performed by talented veteran
musicians Beth Bahia Cohen (violin and bowed tanbur),
Sonja Drakulich (vocals and percussion), Polly Tapia
Ferber (percussion), and Gari Hegedus (oud).
Tickets are $5 for students and $12 for general

Reflecting the depth of cultural
expression, the music in tonight’s
performance follows the journey of Jewish music from
Turkey, Greece, and Eastern Europe to the Middle East.
Those inspired by the performance can learn more about
this music when Beth Bahia Cohen presents a *workshop
on the Jewish Music of the Eastern Mediterranean -- a
hands-on ensemble workshop open to all instruments *
Sunday, November 20 from 2 until 4:30 p.m. at the MCC.
