Edom is a Jewish-rock-jazz- avantgarde powerhouse
ensemble. If one has to define influential figures for
Edom, John Zorn's Masada, Medeski, Martin, and Wood, Marc
Ribot's Shrek, and all the most adventurous guitar/organ
led bands of the past and present would make the list.
Edom performed at the 2006 Montreal Jazz Festival to rave
reviews, as well as in top New York City venues such as
Tonic, Galapagos, BAM café and the Knitting Factory.
The ensemble recorded and released its debut self titled
album Edom on Tzadik Records (featuring John Medeski on B3
organ) last year.
“This quartet shreds traditional stylizations into tiny
pieces. They go for the jugular with a broad-ranging
palate of ideas. Loads of fun…” (All About Jazz)
“Headed by guitarist Eyal Maoz and featuring the organ of
John Medeski, Edom is funky, dirty fun. Loose, contagious
compositions, driven by warm acoustic bass and tumbling
drums, sizzle beneath the firepower of Maoz and Medeski’s
riveting interplay. Edifying and electrifying, Edom
deserves to be in your ears.” (Quimper Sound.com)
