Come to the Yiddish Summer Weimar 2007 Symposium on Klezmer and other "other" musics and join leading scholars, journalists and performers in discussing Jewish music, jazz, media, cultural identity and clich馥. Discussion panels include Ruth Gruber (author of "Virtually Jewish. Reinventing Jewish Culture in Europe"), Zev Feldman (scholar of Yiddish & Turkish music), Jo Meyer (radio journalist, founder of JAMs & Polkaholics), Judit Frigyesi (scholar of Jewish music & Bartok), and others. The program includes the world premier concert of the Diaspora Redux project (Aaron Alexander, Alan Bern, Paul Brody, Cesar Lerner, Alex Kontorovich, Martin Lillich, Marcelo Moguilevsky) and a public screening and discussion of the new BBC/WDR film co-production "European Roots: Klezmer in Germany" with co-director Carolyn Goldie. - Jul 18–25: Instrumental Workshop: Tradition & New Impulses
