THE BRIDGE FESTIVAL

(This is a letter from Matt Fogg, (great jazz pianist and inspired music teacher), to the performers about the festival.)

Hi Everybody and Thanks for being involved!

We are so excited to have you all performing on Thursday June 12th for
the first (of what I hope will be come an annual event) Bridge Music
Festival.

The festival aims to bring together programs in music education at
Portland's middle schools with popular music acts and professional
musicians in the Portland area. The event will feature several
professional Portland area acts as well as student musicians. The
goals of the festival are as follows:

To establish and foster a connection between student and professional
musicians in the greater Portland area.

To bring the schools and greater community together, and raise
additional funds for music programs

Performers will be invited and encouraged to reflect upon the
importance and transformative power of music education in their lives.

Students will gain invaluable experience through actively
participating in the planning, production, and execution of the
festival.

To raise awareness and support for local performing artists.
