Founded in early 2008 by celebrated clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein, The Zimro Project is a unique ensemble dedicated to incorporating Jewish art music into chamber music programs. Inspired by the Zimro Ensemble, a group that was active a century ago in Russia under the guidance of Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov, the afternoon will feature performances of Prokofiev’s Overture on Hebrew Themes, Osvaldo Golijov’s "The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind" and a world premiere of Lera Auerbach's "Prayer" for solo bass clarinet.
