Charming Hostess, Hardly Strictly Klezmer in Benefit for folks displaced by Hurricane Sandy, Berkeley 20 Dec 2012
DECEMBER brings us to our residency at Meridian Gallery in SF, with a new installation on teraphim. Teraphim are often translated as "household gods"—they were figures used for home worship, for divination, to seek justice and to determine authority. Participate in our installation during the day on Thursdays, or come Thursday nights for our Jewish music series. We are so excited to be at Meridian with the incomparable Dohee Lee … What an honor. See you soon for bright lights on a dark night!
Meridian Gallery Residency: Dark Nights, Bright Lights
Thursdays in December: 6, 13, 20, 12pm–5pm, 8pm
Meridian Gallery
535 Powell St.
San Francisco, CA
12pm–5pm: Participate in "Teraphim"—hepatoscopy, belomancy, text study, meditative movement, idol-contemplation and more! See website for details.
8PM: Jewish music series. Join Charming Hostess and friends as we move from Khanukah to Solstice, from mystic contemplation to sweaty dancing, from the intimate to the apocalyptic. Charming Hostess will open each evening with a short set and then be followed by Jewish luminaries who will light up this intimate space. Get apocalyptic for Khanukah!
